Sunshine Stars FC U19 marketable for global recognition – Coach
The Head Coach of Sunshine Stars U-19, Olarenwaju Ale, has praised his players for their resilience after defeating Enyimba FC U-19, 1-0, in a matchday 8 fixture of the N-Youth League.
Ale expressed confidence in the team’s performance, noting that they have maintained an unbeaten run both at home and away in the league.
“It was a very tough game, but we came out victorious. In our last two training sessions, we focused on improving our goal-scoring opportunities,” Ale said.
“Today, we had five or six scoring chances, but the Enyimba FC U-19 goalkeeper prevented my boys from securing more goals. The penalty goal sealed it, showcasing the boys’ potential for global recognition.
“This is a developmental league, and my players are proving they are capable and ready for global opportunities.”
The two sides battled intensely in the first half, with two officials from the Enyimba FC U-19 team being shown red cards for misconduct.
The inclusion of Ilerioluwa Olowo in the second half set the stage for Sunshine Stars U-19 to score the game’s only goal after he was fouled in the penalty area.
Khalil Nurudeen converted the penalty in the 60th minute.
Sunshine Stars’ next match will be an away game against Atlantic Business of Lagos, in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
