Sunshine Stars for FA Cup semi final

Sunshine Stars FC have qualified for the semi-final encounter of the 2023 Ondo State FA Cup after defeating Emalex FC of Owo.

The match played at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure, was the quarter final encounter of the Ondo State FA Cup had Sunshine Stars FC winning the encounter 3-1.

Sunshine Stars Feeders also defeated Akure City 3-0 in the first Quarter Final of the day.

Speaking with newsmen after the encounter, First Assistant Coach of Sunshine Stars, Akin Olowookere, expressed happiness over the team’s victory because FA Cup was always full of surprises.

Olowookere said he was sure that his team would win the tournament, saying his team had an edge based on pedigree.

“We thank God for the victory, it was not a easy one, the team came out to put up a good performance. If they win us it’s big news, if we win them it’s not a big news.

“You know FA cup is full of surprises and you notice how big teams are losing all over. So Anything short of victory for us is not acceptable, ” he said.

Also, Head Coach of Emalex FC, Mr Olumiyiwa Ajala, averred that his team did well and was not surprised about the result.

Ajala said that though! He prepared to win the match, but would still go back to the drawing board and work on the mistakes.

Moyero FC defeated Adamimogo FC 5-4 through penalty shootout after both sides played a 1-1 draw in the regulation time ,while Zion Warriors lost 1-2 to Wonder Xchange in the second quarter final of the competition.

Also, Sunshine Stars FC will play Sunshine Stars Feeders in the semi final encounter.
