T he Chairman of Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) Otunba Tajudeen Olajide Akinyemi has assured the people of Ondo state and fans of Sunshine Stars FC within and outside the state that  the agency will do everything humanly and legitimately possible to make sure that their beloved team (Sunshine Stars) is not relegated from the Nigeria professional  Football league NPFL.

Akinyemi gave the assurance during a chat with the Sporting Hope at his Oda office, in Akure the state Capital.

The sport administrator noted that Sunshine Stars has the material to do the job, saying the current position of Sunshine Stars on the log is not where they should be, we are suppose to be on number 9th position , but for the 3 points deducted we are on 18th position on the table

According to him, “the three points was deducted from Sunshine’s points due to the action of some unknown miscreants that was alleged to have pelted a referee on match day at the Sports complex in Akure with sachet water.”

Though the Chairman said, the 3 points is not outrightly deducted , rather it was suspended , saying the agency is optimistic the 3 points is going to be restored when the league commences.

“I met with the league Management Company members recently in Russia, and they told us to come to Abuja to defend our team when the league begin, I have trust in the LMC  that they will allow justice to prevail on the matter, be it as it may, we are confidence that we are not relegating this season, he said.”

Asked how feasible is the proposed September 2nd resumption of NPFL, he said, it can’t be substantiated and ascertained as a director in LMC representing South west , we only heard it on air that league will resume on the said date, adding that they have not received any official letter in that regard, normally in a situation like this, we are supposed to get a letter from the LMC, stating that league will start on a particular date .

“For us in ODSFA , that September 2nd is  doubtful, but we are battle ready for the commencement of the league , our players are in good shape, they are ready to roar, they have been playing friendly matches day in day out.
