Sunshine Stars through to Gold Cup final

Ten-man Sunshine Stars FC defeated Remo FC Ijebu -Ode in the second semi final held in Akure Sports Complex to qualify for the 6th edition of Gold Cup Tourney via penalty shoot out.

The South West derby ended 1-1 in the 90minutes.

Midfield dynamo, Anthony Omaka fired home off the upright free kick lay up for Sunshine in the eight minute of the encounter, before the resilience Remo Stars FC found an equaliser from a goal scramble.

Akam missed a chance to restore Sunshine Stars’ lead from Barnabas’ low cross in the area.

Owena Waves were down to 10 men in the 83rd minute, when Adeyemi got the marching order for second bookable offense.

Sunshine Stars substitute goalkeeper, Ayo Ojo stole the show as he saved two beautiful penalties .

The match ended 3-2 in favour of Sunshine Stars FC .

Today’s winning made Sunshine Stars on beating in the 6th edition of the competition.
