As 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League kicked off, Ondo state Deputy Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa has said efforts are ongoing to restructure Sunshine Stars Football Club for better performance.
Ayedatiwa stated this while playing host to members of the Sports Writers association of Nigeria SWAN, Ondo state chapter in his office in Akure the state capital.
Ayedatiwa, chairman of a three man committee set up by the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to take charge of the football agency last season, said part of the strategies to restructure team was the recruitment of fresh players and setting up of more administrative frameworks for the club.
He called for more experienced hands with passion for the growth of football in the state.
According to him, “as the 2021/2022 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League has commenced, sunshine stars football of Ondo state’s target is to pick a continental ticket at the end of the season.”
Earlier, Chairman of SWAN in Ondo state Mr Wahab Bankole commended the Deputy Governor for his role in ensuring that sunshine stars escaped relegation last season
He assured him of the support of sports writers in the state to give sports its pride of place.
