The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has called on the management of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, to give maximum cooperation to the visitation panel in order to present a true and comprehensive picture of the institution.

He made this call while receiving members of the university’s management team in his office in Akure.

It would be recalled that the governor inaugurated the visitation panel last month, highlighting its essential role in conducting reviews of the university’s progress and ensuring robust support for its new leadership.

During the meeting, the governor commended the contributions of the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Adesegun Fatusi, and congratulated Professor Adolphus Odogun Loto on his appointment as the Acting Vice Chancellor. He also lauded other management staff for their commitment to maintaining the institution’s stability during the transition.

Aiyedatiwa emphasised that the visitation panel was not constituted to witch-hunt anyone or assign blame, but rather to interact with stakeholders, gather relevant data, and assess the progress and challenges of the institution.

He assured that the findings of the panel would be critically examined to inform decisions aimed at further advancing UNIMED’s development.

In his remarks, Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Adolphus Loto thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for his continued support for the university, particularly the release of N500 million for the construction of a new Senate building, pledging to deliver a befitting structure.

He added that the panel members are diligently working to collect information from all quarters, noting that the management is fully cooperating with them to ensure the success of the assignment.
