The national body of Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria, SWAN, has paid a visit to the Management of Nasarawa United Football Club, to commiserate with the team on the demise of one of their players, Chineme Martins, whose sad event occurred on Sunday, 8th March, 2020, during the Nigerian Professional Football League match day 23 tie against Katsina United in Lafia.

Vice President of SWAN, North Central, Danmusa Mohammed, who represented the national President, Comrade Honour Sirawoo, conveyed the sympathy message of the body to the Chairman and Management of the Club in Lafia.

According to him, “I am here representing the national President, Comrade Honour Sirawoo, who would have loved to be here in person, but due to tight schedules and his recent appointment as Permanent Secretary by the Rivers State Government, he couldn’t.

“On behalf of SWAN, the President expresses his sadness over the loss of one of your dedicated players, Martins. It is sad because he had shown enough commitment, desire and passion for the team.

“It’s a great loss to both the team and family, and of course, the entire state and football fraternity in the country.

“As sports writers, we will continue to partner with you for the progress of Nasarawa United and your leadership as Chairman of the Club”, Danmusa opined.

In his response, Chairman of Nasarawa United, Barrister Isaac Danladi, thanked the national leadership of the Sports Writers for sharing in the Club’s pains.

“Indeed, we are touched by what has happened, and it’s something no one would ever wish it happens again, but we take it in good fate because nature has its own way of doing things that incapacitates us as humans and resigns us to fate.

Similarly, the entire leadership, coaching crew and players of Nigerian second division side, Aklosendi International FC, Lafia, were at the office of the Nasarawa United Chairman to condole with the Club.

Led by its Vice Chairman, Dardau Saleh, he said their visit, on behalf of their Chief Executive Officer, Faith Allu, was to tender their condolences and sympathies with the Chairman and entire Nasarawa United for the loss of their player.

Dardau later presented a lcondolence letter to the Chairman, who was elated with their kind and emotional gesture, extending the Club’s appreciation to the CEO and Aklosendi International FC.
