Ondo State, ping pong starlet Funmilayo Favour Ojo has added another gold to the Kitty of the state at the ongoing National Youth Games holding in Asaba,Delta state.
Ojo earned the state’s most precious shield after defeating her Lagos state opponent 3-1 in a game of three.
While Doris Ajube and Obawumi Ojo had earlier won Bronze Medals in Swimming 50m Girls Backstroke and Judo respectively.
The General Manager of the State Sports Council, Mr Henry Babatunde commended the feat recorded by the Ondo State National Youth Games debutant and her compatriots.
Babatunde in a chat with Sporting Hope said he was elated with the feat recorded by the upcoming table tennis star.
He added that the athlete is a future national and international table tennis stars with the skills she displayed from the beginning of the national youth fiesta till she came first among her competitors.
He admonished the skilful Ondo State born table tennis player to be humble and focus on her career by taking to her coaches’ instructions.
He said: “She should keep on with the good work she is doing, she has a bright future and prospect to be great, she is is a national and world champion in the making. She has all the attribute to be great”.
“This competition is not about numbers of medals won, the games is all about discovery of talents, it’s a developmental programme designed to unearth budding talents.”
“We are not going to be distracted by winning medals by all means, rather we will be more interested in discovering talents for our state and the country at large.”
