S ecretary to Ondo State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu has been honoured with “TAMPAN Woman of the Year” award, for being an exemplary model and driving good governance under the administration of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Princess Oladunni Odu was hinted on the recognition of the award at her office while playing host to the executive members of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) led by Alagba Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr. Latin.
While welcoming the TAMPAN executives, Princess Odu commended the association for doing a lot in promoting Arts and Culture, generally.
In her words, “taking a look at the Yoruba culture, we are always proud; we are rich in language, dressing, character and are valued on the ethos of Omoluabi”
“The society is filled with many ills and anyone identified as Omoluabi should walk confidently in the society but if it is otherwise, such person has lost it all. I love people to describe me as Omoluabi, she said”
The SSG who described herself as someone who seldom consent to receiving awards said she felt compelled to consider the request because she perceived it was given to her by a group of respectable personalities.
She urged the association to ensure that all efforts are made to sustain Yoruba culture and its vast heritage.
Princess Odu thanked TAMPAN for considering her worthy of such prestigious award and prayed God to grant them more wisdom and strength to drive the association forward.
Speaking earlier, the TAMPAN Global President, Otunba Bolaji Amusan, said the major aim of the association is to propagate arts and culture and recognise people of remarkable achievements in the society.
He said, a lot had been said about artistes and much is being done to erase the wrongs, whilst abiding to what is expected of them in the society.
Otunba Amusan disclosed that the association does not sell awards “we give an award to just one distinguished person every year”
According to him, scouting for a notable awardees to commemorate this years’ World Theatre Day (WTD) was not far-fetched.
“Governor Akeredolu has been blazing the trail in good governance and having profiled Princess Oladunni Odu as a distinguished personality under his administration, it becomes necessary to honour her in respect of her good works, diligence and loyalty.
