Chairman, Ondo State Taskforce on Fake and Counterfeit Drugs, Mr Gbenga Lasekan has reiterated the state government’s resolve in eradicating unethical practices and drugs which are harmful to human consumption in the state.
He stated this while sealing some patent medicine stores in Owo, Owo Local Government area of the state.
According to him, it is against the rule of the practice to sell drugs inside wooden or iron containers or inside motor parks as seen in the area, adding that the safety of such drugs could not be guaranteed as such environment could damage drugs.
Lasekan, who led the Task Force, described as worrisome the extent at which some patent medicine shop owners were hell-bent on embracing illegal practices.
While noting that the sealed outlets were located within the premises not allowed by the regulatory body, Lasekan called on all owners of sealed shops to report at the State Ministry of Health for appropriate sanctions.
Stating that apart from the two shops sealed, some drugs were seized from another two shops for the same offence, he urged major stakeholders dispensing drugs to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of the profession for the betterment of humanity.
