Two men have been arrested for allegedly stealing three sheep in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State.
The suspects were apprehended by the recently inaugurated Ikirun Security Joint Taskforce (IKJTF) at Eleewaa Community in the ancient town.
The Ikirun Joint Security Taskforce was established by the National Ikirun Progressive Union (NIPU) to curb the spate of crime and criminality in the community.
According to reports, the local security outfit, trained under Halogen Security Group, was set up to complement the efforts of conventional security agencies.
It has since been collaborating with the Nigerian Police Divisional Headquarters in Ikirun, as well as the Ikirun Area Commands of both the police and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Weekend Hope gathered that around 3am on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, the security team was on patrol when they received a call from the Baale of Eleewaa Community reporting a robbery incident.
Sources revealed that the two men, one of whom claimed to be a commercial driver, were caught red-handed harbouring the stolen sheep in a fenced yard in the area.
They reportedly arrived on a motorcycle, which was used for the operation.
Following investigations, the owner of the building where the suspects intended to keep the stolen sheep was identified.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed that they did not know the owner of the building.
They explained that they only wanted to store the animals temporarily before moving them out of the community using a vehicle.
