TCN suspends two-month blackout in Ondo, Ekiti

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has announced the indefinite suspension of the planned two-month power outage in Ondo and Ekiti States.
BEDC spokeswoman Evelyn Gbiwen, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday that the suspension would be until further notice.
“We wish to announce that we have just received further update from TCN to the effect that TCN has suspended the planned outage on Osogbo/Akure and Ado-Ekiti 132KV lines.
“The planned power outage, which was previously scheduled for July 1 to Aug. 31, has been suspended till further notice.
“Our services will, therefore, continue without interruption, ” she said.
According to her, “BEDC remains committed to serving our customers better.”
The latest development has allayed the fear of anticipated blackout in Ondo and Ekiti States by the residents of the two states.
Recall that the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) had earlier announced power interruption in the two states for two months.
According to a public announcement by BEDC, the blackout would commence on Monday July 1, 2024, and last until August 31, 2024.
BEDC noted that the service interruption is due to critical maintenance work on the 132kV Akure-Osogbo transmission line, which will be carried out by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
