Over 5,000 applicants on Thursday stormed the Osun State Ministry of Education for the recruitment of teachers in the state.

The state government  had earlier announced the recruitment of 2,500 teachers in order to boost the education sector of the state.

A visit to the Ministry of Education at the state Secretariat as early as 8am saw applicants in their thousands already on ground getting ready to start purchasing the log-in pins.

Being the first day of the sales of the pin, it was a bit of a surprise that over 5,000 applicants could have made it to the secretariat as early as 8am while some of them came with their breakfast in food flasks.

Speaking with The Hope, one of the applicants, who identified herself as Mrs Idowu Olalekan said she got overwhelmed by the huge number of the applicants she met on ground even before 8am.

She said despite the fact that she got to the premises of the ministry even before 8:00 o’clock in the morning, she was surprised to meet hundreds of applicants who had come earlier before her.

She frowned at the high rate of unemployment in the country, while appreciating the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola for deciding to recruit teachers and take teeming youths out of the labour market.

Also who spoke under anonymity said the recruitment is long over due and is a right step for the state having reviewed the education sector.

They urged the state government to also employ in other sectors in order to ease and reduce unemployment in the society.
