Shortage of teachers in schools in Ondo State will soon become a thing of the past as the state government has approved immediate recruitment of two thousand teachers in our primary  schools.

The Ondo State chairman of National Association of Parents/ Teachers of Nigeria, (NAPTAN), Abimbola Omoloja stated this at a  forum in Ajowa Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government.

Omoloja traced the acute shortage of teachers to death, retirement and resignation.

He called on the state government through the State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), to follow due process in appointing the new  teachers for schools  to fill the gaps that had made teaching ineffective.

He appealed to government to continue with the ongoing renovation of schools.

Omoloja condemned the lukewarm attitude of parents towards providing instructional materials, clothing and other materials for their children

In his speech, the Tutor General for the Northern Senatorial District, Mr Ayo Ariyo gave kudos to Governor Akeredolu for the renovation of schools across the state and his worker friendly policies in Ondo state.

He urged parents to do more by buying uniform and giving pocket money to their wards.

The Area Education Officer for Akoko Northwest, Mr Emmanuel Akintulere gave kudos to Arakunrin Akeredolu for the mass promotion of workers and his concern for workers’ welfare.

The newly inaugurated Chairman of Akoko North West PTA, Chief Akintola Olukoyi commended the leadership of Chief Omoloja who he described as very transparent, dynamic and progressive.
