Ondo State contingent has departed Akure for the 8th National Youth Games (NYG) holding in Asaba, Delta State from 9 to 19 Sept, 2024.
Team Ondo will compete with other states across the country including (FCT) Abuja.
Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development,Mr Saka Yusuf- Ogunleye while bidding the contingent farewell charged both officials and athletes to raise the flag of the state high at national youth mundia.
Yusuf-Ogunleye reiterated the commitment of the current administration to prioritising the welfare of both athletes and their officials.
The commissioner admonished the athletes to be serious and compete well in the spirit of Sportsmanship and exhibit their God given talents to win laurels for the state.
The General Manager,Ondo State Sports Council Mr Sunday Fagite applauded the state Government for her financial support and also thanked the commissioner for his support at all times, promising that the state athletes will compete well in Asaba and will be a good ambassadors of the State.
Ondo State will compete for honour in 14 sports at the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State capital.
The Sports includes; Badminton, Athletic, Gymnastics,Judo,Wrestling, Tennis, Weightlifting, Squash, Swimming,beach Volleyball,Table Tennis, boxing and Hockey.
