Team work and collaboration among health workers have been described as ways to deliver qualitative health care to the people of Ondo State.
Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Niran Ikuomola disclosed this shortly after a monitoring visit to Igbokoda General Hospital on Wednesday.
According to him, it is important for various departments and professionals in hospitals to work as a team in order to provide quality services that will be appreciated by the people.
While frowning at the poor waste management system of the hospital, he stressed the need to embrace an ideal waste disposal method and noted that the hospital makes use of coloured waste disposal bags.
Speaking further he said; “the hospital makes use of an open dumping system which is bad due to hazard of rodents and injury to others. While we are looking forward to having the central incinerator which will be provided by government, we want them to ensure save disposal of waste. We have instructed that a committee should be constituted that will ensure proper waste disposal in place.”
While stating that monitoring entails identification of gaps and correcting where necessary, he suggested that management of health facilities should organise regular meetings with staff so as to bring peace and move the facilities forward.
His words; “It is important to have regular management meeting with relevant stakeholders to discuss the problems of the hospital and also proffer solution to them.
” Our goal is for the hospital to have a very good stand while preparing for the Contributory Health Scheme so that it will be able to provide services to the people of the area.
“We want to ensure that they continue to strive to improve the quality of service they provide, so that people will have trust in the hospital, as it is important that we have good utilisation of the facilities provided by government.”
