Teenager jailed for stealing pants

A 19-year-old teenager, Olasunkanmi Yekini, have been sentenced by an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court to six years in prison for stealing three pants and a phone.

The convict  who charged with theft and breach of public peace was said to have committed the offence on January 28, 2019 at No. 12 Ibokun road, Oja-Oba area, Osogbo.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Jafani Musilimi, told the court that the convict broke into the apartment of  one Folashade Ganiyu and stole three pants belonging to her inside the bathroom.

He said the convict also stole a Techno mobile phone valued at  N6,000 belonging to the complainant.

The prosecutor said the convict conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of public peace.

The offence contravened the provisions of sections 412 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.

Magistrate Rofiat Olayemi sentenced the convict without any option to pay fine.
