Teenager jailed for stealing

A 19-year-old teenager, Abiodun Oni has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court for stealing.

Men of the Western States Security Network, Amotekun Corps brought Abiodun before the court on a two -count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The State prosecutor, O.F Akeredolu said the convict committed the offence on May 6, 2023 around 12:00am at Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State.

He said Oni entered the workshop of Ekundayo Olaoluwa and committed felonious offence to with breaking and stealing.

The prosecutor said the convict stole two condensers valued N150,000, one compressor valued N75,000 and some workshop tools like spanner and long screw valued N1,500.

The offence contravenes Sections 383, 410 and punishable under Sections 390, 414 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.

Oni pleaded guilty to the charges leveled against him.

The prosecutor prayed the court to sentence the convict according to his plea.

The presiding Magistrate, Damilola Sekoni, found the defendant guilty and convicted him accordingly, since he has no job and family who will take care of his well-being and won’t continue stealing from people.

Sekoni sentenced him to six months imprisonment without an option of fine.

The court, however directed that the sentence to run concurrently.
