An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, ordered the remand of a teenager, Alo Oluwapelumi, at the Correctional centre in the state capital over alleged murder and conspiracy.
The 18-year-old accused, who claimed he is an apprentice in Iyin-Ekiti Irepodun/Ifelodun local government area of the state was brought to the court on a two-count charge of murder and conspiracy.
According to the prosecutor, Insp Bamikole Olasunkanmi, the defendant committed the offence on July 24 in Iyin-Ekiti.
Olasunkanmi informed the court that the defendant and others who were still at large conspired among themselves and murdered one Jafaru Mohammed, a resident of the community.
He said prior to the incident on the fateful day, there was a fight between the defendant and the deceased, and in the process, the defendant hit him with a stone on the head, which resulted to his death.
He noted that the offences contravened Sections 516 and 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in the Correctional centre pending advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
He said the move would grant him the opportunity to assemble his witnesses in court.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, ordered the remand of the defendant at the correctional centre, pending issuance of legal advice.
He adjourned the case until September 17th 2021 for mention
