An on-air personality with Empire Radio Akure, Miss Foluke Elizabeth Adetuyi, has emphasised the importance of storytelling in breaking societal stigmas and fostering empowerment.

Speaking with Friday Extravaganza, she noted that sharing personal experiences not only brings healing to individuals, but it also creates opportunities for others to learn and grow.

She recalled a recent episode where a guest, a serial entrepreneur known as MRoyal Expression, shared her experience of pausing her university education after giving birth outside of marriage.

Rather than allowing the situation to define her, the guest used her story to inspire others, offering free training in textile design to support those seeking new opportunities.

According to Adetuyi, the impact of that single episode reinforced the power of personal narratives.

“Her vulnerability blessed many lives that day.  It showed that when people open up about their struggles, they create space for others to find hope and strength,” she said.

The radio presenter, who has been in the media industry for nearly nine years, explained that ‘Tell Your Story’ serves as a platform for individuals from different backgrounds to share their journeys, including business owners, professional and individuals overcoming challenges.

She noted that storytelling goes beyond entertainment, stating that it is a tool for social change.

“Your story is your goldmine. It is the sum total of your pain, struggles, and successes. By telling it, you not only heal yourself but also inspire others,” she added.

She further commended the radio station for supporting the initiative, describing the programme as a movement that encourages people to break their silence and embrace their experiences.
