Tenure extension fee untrue-ALGON

By Mary Agidi
The Ondo State Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Mr. Augustine Oloruntogbe has affirmed that the alleged demand N20,000 Tenure Extension fee from Supervisors by some chairmen has been found to be untrue.

According to him, the Governor has investigated the allegation and discovered he was given a false information.

About two weeks ago, it was spread across the state that some Local Government Chairmen demands the sum of N20,000 from their Supervisors as ordered by the Governor.

Upon hearing such, the state government through the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Yemi Olowolabi issued a statement to dissociate itself from the demand.

Giving the update on the matter in a telephone interview with The Hope, the ALGON Chairman described it as false information passed to the governor, which he had investigated and found out that nothing of such happened across the 18 local government areas of the state.

Also reacting, the Caretaker Chairman of Ose Local Government, Mr. Agboola Ajike said he felt embarrassed upon hearing the allegation, noting that he wondered if any of his colleagues could descend so low to make such demand.

It described it as just a rumour propelled by some enemies that want to destabilize the ruling party in the state.
