TESCOM recruits 1,000 teachers

As part of the efforts in strengthening the academic standard and promoting effective teaching and learning in the public secondary schools of Ondo State, Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has graciously approved the recruitment of one thousand teachers into the public secondary schools of the State.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Teaching Service Commission, Mrs Funmilayo Akinola and made available to The Hope, only applicants with the Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) and holders of Bachelor’s Degree from recognised tertiary institutions are eligible to apply.

The statement reads, “In view of the approval of the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Lucky Aiyedatiwa to recruit one thousand teachers to fill the consequential vacancies in the Public Secondary Schools of the State, the Ondo State Teaching Service Commission is inviting interested applicant’s to with NIGERIAN CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATION ( N.C.E) and Bachelor’s Degree in the following subjects Accounting, Agricultural Science, Biology, Business Studies, Basic Science and Technology, Cultural and Creative Arts Chemistry, Christian Religious Studies, Computer Science, Economics, English language Studies, Food and Nutrition, French language, Geography, Government, History, Islamic studies, Mathematics, Physics, Social Studies, Special Education and Yoruba language to apply through this link;

Entry closes on Saturday, April 13, 2024. No double entry, please.”

The statement further added that teachers to be recruited must be ready to teach in the public secondary schools of the rural areas in the State for five years at least before they could be transferred to another school when the need arises.

Mrs Akinola who further stressed that no teacher would be employed by the Commission through the “back door” noted that the teachers to be employed must have very good score in the aptitude test and interview which would be conducted by the Commission because of the sensitivity of the job as teachers were saddled with the responsibility of moulding the academic lives and minds of the children for development.
