The Hope reporters shine at NUJ Award Night

Three reporters of The Hope Newspaper; Summola Olowookere,Tola Gbadamosi and Maria Famakinwa shone as stars at the professional Award Night and dinner climaxing the end of this year’s Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists , NUJ, Ondo state Council.
Sunmola Olowookere, an Assistant News Editor, clinched the Best Judicial Reporter of The Year, following her painstaking, diligent and near accurate reports on some murder cases in the year.
Tola Gbadamosi, a crack crime reporter who also won the Best Grassroots Reporter of The Year was adjudged best following her undercover exclusive stories ,particularly on the story titled “Akure Night Clubs Where Strippers , Crawlers Meet “
Maria Famakinwa, a prolific Features writer won the Best Investigative Reporter of The Year (print) on her report on Fufu producers mixing it with hypo, which went viral after the publication sent many tongues wagging.
In each of the categories of the awards, several candidates from 11 chapels of the union in the state submitted entries for the nine professional awards with Owena Press Chapel coasting home with three, leaving the remaining ten Chapels to scramble for the remaining six.
In his address at the occasion, chairman of Ondo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Adetona Aderoboye said all the awardees were selected on merit and enjoined them not to relent in their efforts.
The awardees who could not hide their joy said they dedicated the awards to all the workers of Owena Press Ltd, particularly, editorial members.
Other recipients of the awards are: Segun Giwa (Best Sports Reporter -Print, Timilehin Ogunsulire (Best Photojournalist); Charles Fatoki (Best Cameraman); Oluseye Iyiade (Best Crime Reporter (Print); Ayodeji Moradeyo (Best Investigative Reporter- Broadcast),the NUJ Chairman’s Award of Outstanding Member went to Omolayo Monehin; Adewale Momoh (Best Political Reporter (Print) and Adewumi Adekunle (Best Grassroots Reporter (Broadcast).
