The art of using thought energy and producing visible results

By Aditi Raman Shridhar

While light travels at the rate of 1,86,000 miles per second, thoughts virtually travel in no time,” says Sri Swami Sivananda in his book Thought Power.

Illustrating the example of throwing a piece of stone in a pool of water which produces a succession of concentric waves travelling all around from the affected place, Indian monk and mystic Sri Sivananda says thoughts are finer than ether and travels from mind to another.

Thoughts are living things. A thought is as much solid as a piece of stone. We may cease to be, but our thoughts can never die. Every change in thought is accompanied by vibration of its matter (mental). Thought as force needs a special kind of subtle matter in its working.

The stronger the thoughts, the earlier the fructification. Thought is focused and given a particular direction and, in the degree that thought is thus focused and given direction, it is effective in the work it is sent out to accomplish, says the Swami. This is because every thought has got weight, shape, size, form, colour, quality and power. A Yogi can see all these thoughts directly with his inner Yogic eye.

An experiment in the United States by neurologist, Dr Bruce Lipton suggested that we human beings are made up of 50 trillion cells and the cells are the living entities. So we are a community of cells and not a single person. Every cell in our bodies has a minus voltage on the inside and a positive voltage on the outside. Every live cell is a battery and vibrates at 1.4 volts of energy. This means that we vibrate at 50 trillion cells multiplied by 1.4 volts, resulting in nearly 750 trillion volts of electricity vibrating in our bodies right now. With training and meditation, we can channel this electricity called Chi. Once you understand that you are not a physical entity but a bundle of energy waves, every perception of life and self itself changes.

Lipton says that in his experiment he found that all animals and plants communicate with each other in vibration. A gazelle doesn’t have to go up to a lion and ask him, if you are my friend. From a distance, the gazelle can feel the energy of the lion and it will not go near him because of the vibrations it receives from the lion. If human beings were taught from childhood to be sensitive to the vibrations, they would not get trapped in bad relationships and bad situations. But we are universally taught to not go by our feelings and vibrations but by the words communicated to us. Language was designed to hide feelings. Lipton says that humans can easily read vibrations and should be trained to feel it from childhood.

Physics is now transitioning from studying the physical to the vibrations of every animate and inanimate object. In metaphysics, Lipton says that scientists now read the waves and not the particles. All the waves together is called field. Humans are made of atoms and every atom has a wave. All waves are connected and ever flowing because waves cannot be separated and broken and cut.

Lipton says that physicists now conduct an experiment called Magneto Encephalograph (MEG), which is an advanced version of EEG in which wires are put on the skin and brain activities are read. Earlier, EEG used to read brain activities by putting the wires on the forehead of a person. But in MEG, wires are put away from the head, suspended in the air at a few meters distance from the head, and yet the same brain activities are read. This shows that thoughts are waves and they are transmitted outside of our head.

Thoughts are not contained inside the head and human beings are not an entity but a bundle of waves. Waves get entangled with each other such as with people you are connected to or in a relationship with. It is a common experience in most people’s lives that when they think of someone with love or anger, the receiver usually sends them a phone call or message. This experience of telepathy is real but accidental in most people’s experience because they have not tapped into the science of vibrations and made it a conscious activity.

Just as a placebo refers to a positive thought and vibration, nocebo is negative vibration. When you bless someone or think of someone lovingly, they receive that vibration and create a similar feeling towards you. The same is true for someone you create a negative energy for.

It is important to recognize, therefore, that every thought and judgement you create is being received by the people you are connected to. Lipton says that we human beings have a brain that works like a tuning fork. And we are constantly broadcasting frequencies outside of us. Every person, place, situation and thing that we resonate at the vibration of comes to us in our realities. So, the person you are in love with, your family, your career, your job and the money you make are all coming back to you in the frequency you are vibrating at.

Every thought has an image. A table is a mental image plus some external thing. The image of a mountain already exists in the mind. The mind is like a vast sheet of canvas that contains all the pictures of the objects seen outside. Whatever you see outside has its counterpart in the mind. The pupil is a small round thing in the eye. Retina is a small structure. How is it that the image of a big mountain seen through a small aperture or structure cast on the mind? This is a marvel of marvels.

Man is the master of his own destiny. You yourself make, by the power of your thought, your destiny. You can undo it if you like. All faculties, energies and powers are latent in you. Unfold them and become free and great.

One way of reading the vibes of another person is by way of feeling. Be very honest about how you feel in someone’s company and don’t get fooled by the words they speak. The other way is by reading the person’s face. Swami Sivananda says that every thought also creates a groove on the face. The face is the index of the mind. Face is the mould of the mind. A divine thought brightens the face. An evil thought darkens the face. Continue divine thoughts increase the aura or halo. Continued evil thoughts increase the depth of dark impressions, just as the continued striking of a vessel against the edge of a well while drawing water makes deeper and deeper hollow on the vessel. The facial expression truly advertises the inner state of the mind or the true contents of the mind.

The eyes which represent the windows of the soul bespeak of the condition and state of the mind. There is a telegraphic instrument in the eyes to transmit the messages or thoughts of treachery, depression, gloom, hatred, cheerfulness, peace, harmony, health, power, strength and beauty. If you have the faculty to read the eyes of others, you can read the mind at once. You can read the uppermost thought or dominant thought of a man if you are careful to mark the signs in his face, conversation and behaviour. It needs a little pluck, acumen, training, intelligence and experience.

What thoughts do you constantly emit into the world? Are they pleasant or unpleasant? Do you bless others or hate others? Are you adding to happiness in the world or to misery?

Every man should have a comprehensive understanding of the laws of thought and their operations. Then alone can one live in this world smoothly and happily. He can utilize the helping forces to serve his ends in the best possible manner. Start looking at your thoughts more carefully and change them to pleasant ones. Find the root causes of unpleasant thoughts and delete them. Create beautiful realities with the power of your thoughts and make your life and the world around you beautiful.
