There was a drama at an Akure Chief Magistrate Court yesterday as lawyers fought over who should take the brief before the court.
The suspects who are judiciary staff, Komolafe Olawale, 40 and Sunday Omojowo, 42, were arraigned before the court sitting at Oke-Eda over alleged stealing of phone.
Other defendants are Dayo Adedeji, 32, Ayomidimeji Olumide, 29 and Olajide Opeyemi, 40.
The development made the Chief Magistrate Musa Al-Yunus ordered the remand of the suspects in Ondo Correctional Centre.
The plea of the suspects were not taken.
The police said that the defendants committed the offence on June 30, 2022 at Chief Magistrate Court Gate, Oke-Eda, Akure in the Akure Magisterial District.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Abdulateef Sulieman said that Komolafe Olawale and Sunday Omojowo stole one smart five phone valued N60,000 property of one Ajoloko Hellen.
According to him, Dayo Adedeji, Ayomidimeji Olumide and Olajide Opeyemi received one smart five phone property of Ajoloko Hellen, knowingfully that the said smart five phone was stolen.
The offence, he said contravene the Provisions of Sections 390 (9), 516, 427 and 383 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
Magistrate Musa Al-Yunus ordered the remand of the defendants in Ondo Correctional Centre.
He thereafter adjourned the case till July 6, 2022 for arraignment.
