Threat to life lands farmer in court

A 45-year-old farmer, Gabriel Adeyemi, has been arraigned before an Ondo Magistrate Court, for intimidating and threatening to kill one Micheal Awolope with a cutlass.

Adeyemi was arraigned on two counts charge bothering on threat to life and breach of peace on March 7, 2024, at Orimalade Street, Ondo City.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinselure  Gbenga, said the offence Micheal Awolope committed, contravened Sections 86(ii) and it  249(d)(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge preferred against him.

Akinselure told the court that three witnesses would testify in the case. He prayed the court to adjourn the matter to enable him study the case file and prepare them for trial.

The defence counsel, Isreal Ikuemonisan, pleaded with the court that the client was innocent of the offence levelled against him.

He urged the court to admit the defendant to bail in the most liberal terms, promising that he would not jump bail if his application was granted.

Magistrate O. Ijeh, in her ruling, granted the defendant N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till March 18, 2024, for trial.
