Three docked for stealing, fraud

Three men, Paul ldoko,51; Jude Ayogu,50, and Barnabas Ayogu,64, have been arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Court, for defrauding a union to the tune of N1,040,000.

The trio, were alleged to have conspired sometimes in the year 2022, at Sasere camp via Bolorunduro, to commit a felony, to wit, stealing and fraudulently converted the money which belongs to the union.

The police prosecutor, Inspector A. Jejeniwa said the defendants fraudulently converted the sum of N1,040,000 from lsugu Progressive Union to their own use.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Sections 516, 383 and 390 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

But the defendants pleaded not guilty to the offence leveled against them.

Jejeniwa told the court that four witnesses would testify in the case. Hence he applied for a date to enable him study the case file.

Defence counsel, Joseph Ayinde, did not oppose the prosecutor’s application. But he applied for the bail of his clients in the most liberal terms, promising that the defendants would provide credible and reliable sureties.

Magistrate C.M. Omole, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1 million each with one surety in like sum and adjourned till June 26, 2024.

She transferred the case to Bolorunduro court for further adjudication.
