Three docked over cocoa theft

Three persons have been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate Court, for allegedly stealing and receiving cocoa beans valued at N750,000.

 Dominic Abraham, 25 and Saviour Thankgod, 21 and a woman, Adah Peter, 42, were charged with three counts of conspiracy, stealing and receiving of stolen goods.

Police prosecutor, Simon Wada, informed the court that the defendants and others at large committed the offences on October 1, 2023 at about 8pm at Ala Community, Akure.

The prosecutor said the first and the second defendants conspired to steal some quatities of fresh cocoa beans valued at N750,000, belonging to one Damilola Akinrodemi and Smart Olaniyi.

The offences, according to the prosecutor contravened Sections 516, 398,390 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendants pleaded not guity to the charges against them.

Wada prayed for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and as well gather his witnesses.

Magistrate Damilola Sekoni, granted the defendants N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to November 17, 2023 for hearing.
