No fewer than three unidentified persons lost their lives in a fatal road accident on Sunday in Otukpa, located in Benue South Senatorial District of the state.

The incident involved a 14-seater Toyota Hiace bus belonging to Flight Transport Company Limited, with registration number GBK 873 XA.

An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the vehicle was travelling from Lagos to Benue State when the crash occurred. Three passengers were said to have died on the spot.

When contacted, the operations manager of the transport company, Mr James Tyobee, confirmed the incident, stating, “We have already dispatched officials to visit the scene and ascertain the extent of the incident.”

Mr Tyobee lamented that the exact number of casualties could not yet be confirmed, adding, “When the delegation returns, we can give you authentic information.”

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer in Benue State, Superintendent Catherine Anene, for clarification proved abortive, as calls to her mobile phone were not returned.
