Three in court for stealing palm fruits

The police in Okitipupa Division have arraigned two men and a teenager before the Magistrate  Court sitting in Okitipupa, for stealing bunches of palm fruits, property of Okitipupa Oil Palm Company.

The prosecution said Deji Gbenga, 24, Seyi Francis, 22, Daniel Francis  and  others had allegedly entered  Ojuola Plantation Estate to steal thirty five bunches of palm fruits, valued at N35,000, being property of Okitipupa Oil Palm Company, on May 27, 2019 at about 6pm.

 The police prosecutor, Inspector Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused committed the offence contrary to section 83 and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 volume 1 of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006 .

The trio pleaded not guilty to the three count charge.

 The presiding Magistrate, D . O Ogunfuyi granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with surety each in like sum whom he said must produce an evidence of tax payment and residence within the court’s jurisdiction .

However, he ordered that the defendants should be remanded in Okitipupa prison until their bail conditions were perfected .

The case was adjourned till June 19, 2019.
