Tinubu’lll rehabilitate abandoned federal roads – Aide

By Michael Ofulue, Osogbo

The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Constituency Affairs, Alhaja Kareem Khadijat Omotayo, has stated that the President is committed to addressing issues hindering the nation’s development.

She affirmed that the present administration prioritises transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to the people’s needs, adding that the future holds promise with the collective support of all citizens.

Omotayo disclosed this during a town hall meeting with various stakeholders, including the Market Women Association, Civil Society Groups, Student Union, NUJ, NLC, and others. The meeting was held at the Local Government Secretariat in Abere, Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Monday.

The town hall meeting offered stakeholders the opportunity to voice concerns about the neglect of basic infrastructure in various constituencies, particularly the abandonment of federal road projects across Osun State.

In her words: “I want to assure you that Mr President is committed to working tirelessly to address the issues that matter most to you all. His administration is dedicated to transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to your needs.

“We recognise the unique challenges facing Osun State, from infrastructure development to economic empowerment.

“Mr President’s goal is to create a brighter future for the good people of Osun State, where every citizen has access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

“To achieve this vision, we will work closely with local stakeholders, community leaders, and civil society organisations. All our discussions here will be communicated to Mr President for immediate action, and I assure you that your voice will be heard.

“We will cultivate trust by being transparent, responsive, and accountable to your needs. We aim to address real-world challenges and make a tangible impact on your lives.”

She urged stakeholders to compile a list of abandoned federal projects in Osun State for onward transmission to the Presidency, assuring them that her next visit to the state would coincide with a massive empowerment programme for the people.

Earlier, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke commended the President for organising the town hall meeting in collaboration with the state government.

He said the event demonstrated the President’s commitment to collective leadership and the delivery of democratic dividends in Nigeria.

“We commend the President for sending his envoy to interact with the people of Osun. Our policy from the beginning has been one of partnership and collaboration with the centre, devoid of political colouration. We believe development transcends political divisions.

“What is happening today aligns with our philosophy and perspective. We see this platform as a productive way to drive national development.

“We have listened to our people. They have highlighted the need for respect for democratic rules and practices, the rule of law, and people-focused governance.

“Our people also appreciate Mr President for the palliatives. Our government distributed these palliatives and expanded their content and reach.

“Our people support the President’s reform efforts. He has our backing in his drive to rebuild the national economy.

“As a state, we are pleased with the growing partnership between subnational governments and the centre. Building the nation requires collective efforts.

“We remain committed to federal-state partnership and look forward to the completion of abandoned federal roads across the state. There are numerous abandoned projects in Osun State.”
