Legendary actor, Yomi King, popularly known as Opebe disable has said that he wants the work of theater to continue moving forward, so that people will not think he is a one place artiste.
He said this during an interview with Friday Extravaganza noting that he has not taken a rest saying he is searching for more wisdom, knowledge and understanding.
Opebe Disable who has been acting since 1979 said that he has participated in so many events in theater since he started the job .
“As you all know me as Opebe Disable, see me in this work of theater, he is an imbecile but if you look at most films we do nowadays, you will see that I did not stay in one place. You will see another place that Yomi King performed as an old man who is not a cripple, that is different from the former one who is Opebe in so many places.
“In some works, I acted as a herbalist, policeman, doctors. If you look at so many films that are produced recently, you will see me in another dimension that the world has not seen me. The work of theater is still moving forward.
Artistes are so many and we cannot say some are fake maybe they acted a film that is not good that you people did not like, you will know the group that those people belong to.
“In our own group, it is everyday that we lecture each other on the work we do. We go to different workshops that teach us different things that will make our work move forward.
“Theatre art should be upgraded than this, we artistes should be like the famous celebrities, we should also have private jet. We all brought one head to this earth.
“If government should pump a lot of money into our entertainment, apart from football, wrestling, you will see that there will be more growth in theatre arts and better movie industry,” he explained .
He urged all upcoming artistes to work hard and look up to God in their endeavours saying it is God that makes people great stars.
