Government at the three levels in Nigeria have been advised to be serious about tourist development as this is a major avenue of getting the much needed foreign exchange and revenue required to run the affairs of the country.

The Ojomoluda of Ijebu-Owo, Oba Kofoworola Oladoyinbo Ojomo gave this advice in a chat with The Hope in his palace during this year’s edition of the annual Ulabi festival.

Oba Ojomo posited that tourism, especially from the cultural heritage of the country is a huge potential for earning foreign exchange if properly packaged by governments.

The monarch particularly made mention of the Ulabi festival which he said has the potential of attracting tourists from across the globe.

According to him, the country stands to benefit a lot from its multiplier effect as it could create jobs for the large numbers of Nigerians, both directly and indirectly while at the same time bringing about more hospitality businesses.

In the same vein, the Ojomoluda has called on the Ondo State Government to tap into the tourist potentials of the state to increase the revenue base of the Sunshine State to hasten its infrastructural development programme.

According to him, with the giant strides of the Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led administration, the chances of doing more in this regard is higher because of the money that will be generated from the industry.

Meanwhile, Oba Ojomo has called on indigenes of Ijebu and Owo at large to come together to develop the ancient town.

The monarch stated that it is high time sons and daughters of Owo came together to make Owo great, regardless of political affinity and individual differences.

Ulabi festival is the official presentation and breaking of the Kolanut in Ijebu Owo.

New kolanuts can only be made available for sale in the markets only after this festival.

This years edition attracted sons and daughters of Ijebu Owo from across the globe as well as tourists from around the world.
