Tragedy struck in the Bolorunduro area of Ondo East Local Government area on Monday when a car crushed a man identified as Fatai to death.

The Hope Metro learnt that the incident occurred at INEC office along the Ondo/Akure road in Bolorunduro.

According to a source, the driver was coming from Akure at high speed and rammed into the deceased and his motorcycle, resulting in the man’s death.

One of the deceased’s relatives, whose name is not yet known, informed the police that she received a phone call around 4:30 p.m., alerting her that her older brother had been struck by a car.

The Hope further learned that the deceased’s relatives and friends set the car ablaze. The suspect was rescued from the angry crowd by Amotekun personnel, who later handed him over to the police.

The police at Bolorunduro, in their statement, confirmed that their division was notified of the incident around 5 p.m., and they immediately dispatched a team of detectives to the scene.

“The scene was visited by detectives,” they said, adding, “The corpse was evacuated to a public morgue.”

They further confirmed that the case had been transferred to the Road Traffic Department for further investigation.

The exact circumstances surrounding the accident were still unclear at the time of filing this story.
