A vulcanizer identified as Bolaji was on Saturday knocked to death by loose tyres from a trailer in Osogbo.
The deceased was hit by the tyre at his vulcanizing stand around Fakunle area in Osogbo.
Hope Metro learnt that the incident which happened around 7am left sympathisers traumatised as the deceased’s head was crushed by the tyres.
According to an eyewitness who was lucky to escape, said the tyres which was attached to its rims bounced over his head and knocked down the vulcanizer, who was standing in front of him.
He said the tyres later bounced off, after hitting the vulcanizer to knock down a woman and her daughter selling food close to the vulcanizer.
“My friend, Murphy and I were gisting with the vulcaniser, where he was brushing his teeth with a chewing stick, before a woman that was traveling to Ore/Ondo called him for direction.
“It was while giving directions to the woman that the tyres flew off from the trailer, knocked him down and killed him instantly.
“If he had not gone to attend to the woman, he would not have been hit by the tyres.” he said
Sources said commercial motorcyclists, gave the trailer a hot chase but veered into Ataoja Police Station in Osogbo, after sensing danger.
It was gathered that the driver is now being detained by the police at the Ataoja Police Station with the trailer.
However, the other two persons knocked down by the tyres, have been taken to Osun State University Teaching Hospital, where they are recuperating.
The vulcanizer’s corpse is also said to have been removed by his family members.
Efforts to speak with Osun Police Spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, on the incident, was unsuccessful as her phone number was not reachable.
