A tragic incident occurred over the weekend in Ondo town, the headquarters of the Ondo West Local Government area, as a 53-year old woman, Iyabo Akinnawo, collapsed and died just hours before her son’s wedding ceremony.
However, details concerning the death of the deceased who was a notable businesswoman in the community were still unclear at the time of filing this report.
A source, who pleaded anonymity, indicated that the businesswoman had visited a salon to prepare her hair for the wedding and after returning home, she reportedly complained of a severe headache and went to bed.
A few hours later, as she was getting ready to address wedding-related matters, she collapsed and died shortly after waking up.
Family members rushed her out of the house in an attempt to revive her, but their efforts proved futile, and she was later pronounced dead.
Another account stated that the deceased had been in good health when she returned home from the market, where she had purchased items for the wedding.
An eyewitness mentioned that she had taken a motorcycle home on that fateful day.
The sudden passing of the businesswoman has sparked widespread reactions in the community, with many residents speculating that her death might have been due to cardiac arrest or a heart attack.
When our correspondent visited the area, a crowd of family members and residents had gathered, discussing the shocking news.
In response to inquiries about the incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at the Yaba Divisional Police Station, Mr. Victor Olowolagba, stated that the report had not been formally lodged at the station.
He assured our reporter that he would follow up once a complaint was filed.
