Tribunal fallout: Diaspora community urge opposition to sheathe sword, embrace Aiyedatiwa

The Ondo Youths in Diaspora (OSYiD) has called on the opposition to put aside their differences and embrace Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s leadership following the recent tribunal verdict on the state’s governorship election.

In a statement issued by the Coordinator of OSYiD, Amb (Hon) Gbenga Olukayode, popularly known as Don Pedro, the group urged all political actors to desist from further conflict and focus on the development of Ondo State.

He urged all political stakeholders, especially the opposition, to move beyond the disputes and focus on the development and unity of the state.

“Now is the time for healing and reconciliation. The opposition must set aside political rancour and collaborate with the government for the benefit of Ondo people,” Olukayode stated.

He emphasised that continuing political hostilities and legal battles would only deepen divisions and delay the much-needed development in the state.

“The people of Ondo have spoken through the tribunal, and it is important that we respect the judicial process and the democratic outcome.

“It is time to sheathe the swords, close ranks, and work together towards the common good,” he added.

Olukayode further called on opposition leaders to demonstrate statesmanship by embracing the governor’s leadership and contribute positively to governance instead of resorting to acrimony and confrontation.

“True patriotism demands that we put the interest of Ondo State above partisan politics.

“We must all rally behind Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration to ensure stability, peace and progress for our people,” he urged.

He also commended Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration for its remarkable achievements within the first 100 days in office, describing the progress made as a positive signal for the future of the state.

“The governor has hit the ground running with projects and policies that speak to the needs of the people.

“We, the youths in the Diaspora, are confident in his leadership and hereby pass our votes of confidence on the governor,” Olukayode added.

He also appealed to all stakeholders to join hands in supporting the government’s agenda, noting that sustained peace and cooperation are essential for Ondo’s growth.
