By Sade Adewale
The gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ondo State governorship election, Mr. Agboola Alfred Ajayi, alongside the PDP in the State, has stated their decision to appeal the judgment delivered by the Ondo State Election Petition Tribunal on June 4, 2025.
Following a thorough review of the tribunal’s ruling, Ajayi and the party expressed deep dissatisfaction with the findings, highlighting that the tribunal’s judgment failed to adequately consider critical evidence and exhibits presented during the proceedings. The PDP believes the tribunal’s conclusions lacked the necessary attention to detail and comprehensive analysis of the case.
While acknowledging the disappointment over the ruling, Ajayi and the PDP reiterated their commitment to seeking justice, vowing to pursue an appeal at the Court of Appeal. They emphasized that despite the current challenges facing the judiciary in Nigeria, the legal process must not be undermined, especially when it comes to ensuring fair electoral practices.
Ajayi further stressed that the struggle for justice remains ongoing, urging supporters and party members to remain resolute.
He called on Nigerians to recognize that electoral laws are not mere formalities but essential to the integrity of the nation’s democracy.
Ajayi assured that while the All Progressives Congress (APC) celebrated the judgment, indicative of prior knowledge, the PDP will leave no stone unturned in its pursuit of justice. The party pledged to continue fighting for the truth, ensuring that justice would ultimately prevail for the people ofthe State.
