Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Najeem Salaam has lauded the people of the state for their peaceful conduct after the verdict of election tribunal.
The Speaker, who disclosed this during a plenary session called on residents in the state to continue to be calm and law abiding.
It will be recalled that the Election Petition Tribunal for Osun governorship election last week declared Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the election.
Salaam noted that Oyetola is still the governor of the state and still in-charge of the state’s administration.
He said that the governor and the party, by right and law, has approached the appellate court to seek redress.
“Oyetola is still in-charge and he remains the governor of Osun state; APC is still the party in control of the state.”
The Speaker appealed to residents to remain law abiding and give support to the government.
“Announcements had been made on radio and television stations for people of the state to remain calm with regard to the tribunal’s judgment.
He also warned hoodlums not to use the judgment pronouncement to disrupt the peace being enjoyed in the state.
Salaam called on security agencies to take charge and prevent any breakdown of law and order in the state.
Meanwhile, citizens of the state have been enjoined to support the governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, state chairman, Mr Gboyega Famodun gave the advise on Monday.
Famodun called for more support for Oyetola who is poised to take the state to greater height through industrialisation and welfarism.
He said notwithstanding the recent split judgment of the state election petition tribunal, the governor will implement welfare programmes that will better the lives of the people.
The party chairman assured the people of enjoying more dividends of democracy under the leadership of Oyetola.
Famodun said the governor and the party are confident that they will obtain favourable judgment at the appellate court.
He reemphasized the support of voters in the state in the just concluded elections, saying it earned the APC two senatorial seats, six House of Representatives seats at the national parliament as well as 23 out of 26 seats in the state House of Assembly.
