Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Joint Task Force North East of the Nigerian Amy (NA), have successfully repelled multiple terrorist attacks and neutralised key threats across Borno and Adamawa States, reinforcing security in the region.
According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of OPHK, the troops averted a major disaster in Kukawa Town when terrorists attempted to breach the area using a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED). The troops engaged the vehicle with rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) fire before a T-55 tank destroyed it, preventing a potential mass-casualty attack. A 10-year-old girl sustained minor injuries and has since received medical attention.
In another operation, troops, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), discovered and safely neutralized three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the Dikwa–Ajiri axis, thwarting attempts to sabotage key supply routes.
On October 29, troops of the 192 Battalion, in collaboration with the CJTF, carried out an ambush that neutralized two terrorists in the Mandara Mountains, recovering bicycles and food supplies used by the insurgents.
Similarly, on October 30, troops of the 202 Battalion and 10 members of the Volunteer Force ambushed terrorists attempting to cross from the Gezuwa axis toward the Sambisa Forest along the Bama–Konduga Main Supply Route.
The insurgents were forced to retreat under heavy fire.
Meanwhile, in Adamawa State, troops of the 232 Battalion (Tactical) intercepted smugglers conveying a drum of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and two motorcycles at Fillin Ball and Sebore, Mubi South Local Government Area. The suspects fled the scene, abandoning the contraband, which has been taken into custody for investigation.
In a separate cordon-and-search operation on October 30, acting on credible intelligence, troops of 144 Battalion and Sector 4 Special Forces, alongside Hybrid Forces and local hunters, arrested five suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP collaborators in Sabon Gari village, Madagali Local Government Area. Items recovered included desert camouflage uniforms, ammunition, and illicit drugs. Preliminary investigations are ongoing.
The Air Component Command of OPHK provided vital air support, conducting precision strikes and reconnaissance missions that enhanced ground operations and disrupted terrorist movements. A follow-up sweep on October 31 around the Sambisa Forest led to the recovery of one terrorist’s corpse, an AK-47 rifle, 98 rounds of ammunition, and four bicycles. No troop casualties were reported.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism, reaffirming its commitment to eliminating terrorism and restoring lasting peace to the North East.
