Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with personnel from Operation Safe Haven, have recorded another significant success in the ongoing fight against banditry in Taraba State and neighbouring regions.

Acting on credible intelligence, the troops responded swiftly to a report of armed bandits riding approximately 30 motorcycles who had crossed into Taraba State from Plateau State.

This was contained in a statement issued by Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Captain Olubodunde Oni, on
16 May 2025.

According to the statement, “The assailants had targeted a Fulani settlement near Jebjeb Village in Karim Lamido Local Government Area (LGA), rustling cattle in the process.

“In a well-coordinated response, troops of 6 Brigade, alongside their counterparts from Operation ‘Safe Haven’ stationed in Kampani, Wase LGA of Plateau State, mobilised and moved towards Komodoro village in Karim Lamido LGA.

“Upon contact, the bandits who had retreated across a river boundary into the Daji Madam Forest in Plateau State, were engaged in a fierce firefight.

Two of the bandits were neutralised during the encounter, and about 1,000 rustled cattle were recovered.

The recovered livestock were promptly herded to safety and relocated to Jebjeb community in Karim Lamido LGA.

Authorities have begun plans for thorough identification and verification to ensure the cattle are returned to their rightful owners in due course.

Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the swift and coordinated response by the joint forces.

He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal elements threatening peace in the region.
