Troops raid bandits’ hideout,kill one,23 surrender

In a decisive operation against criminal elements, troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), raided a notorious bandit camp in Angwan Bala, Kambari area of Karim Lamido Local Government, Taraba State. The operation dismantled the stronghold and restored security to the region.
Acting on credible intelligence about the movement of suspected bandits, the troops launched a fighting patrol to the identified hideout.
According to a statement by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, “Upon sighting the patrol team, the bandits opened fire, prompting an immediate and overwhelming response.”



During the firefight, one bandit was neutralized, while 23 others—19 males and four females—surrendered without further resistance.
A thorough search of the camp led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including: Four AK-47 rifles, Five AK-47 magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one english-made pistol, two locally made guns, 28 cutlasses,16 motorcycles, 48 daggers and jack-knives.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the bandits, originally from Plateau State, had paid a local chief in Amar village ₦1,500,000 to establish their camp in the area.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to securing Taraba State.
“This operation is a testament to our resolve to eliminate criminal elements, restore lasting peace, and prevent Taraba State from becoming a safe haven for terrorists. We will continue working with stakeholders to sustain the fight against insecurity,” General Uwa stated.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in combating banditry and other criminal activities.
