Two arraigned over abortion-

Two men are now standing trial before an Owo Magistrates’ Court over their alleged involvement in abortion.
Emmanuel Abiodun, 35, and Ayodele Adebiyi, 29, were dagged to the court by the police for supplying drugs to abort the pregnancy of one Peace Bassay.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Owolabi Edu told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 11,2019 at about 6:30pm at Ekusi street Owo in the Owo Magistraterial District by supplying drugs to procure abortion.
Edu said the duo unlawfully supplied drugs to use for the miscarriage of one Peace Bassey’s pregnancy.
He said the offences contravened sections 516 and 230 of the Criminal Code Cap 37.Vol I Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006. But the accused pleaded not guilty.
Edu, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Alaba Omotoso, prayed the court to admit the accused persons to bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Miss Olajumoke Aladeniyi, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100,00 with one surety whom she said must reside within the Magisterial District.
The case was adjourned till May 8, 2019 for hearing.
