Two feared dead in Akoko crash

Two commercial motocylists, popularly called okada, on Thursday died in an head on collision accident at Agbaluku, Arigidi-Akoko.
An eye witness told The Hope metro that the accident occurred when one of the deceased person suddenly overtook a school bus and hit another oncoming okada man resulting in the death of the two commercial motorcyclists instantly.
The witness attributed the cause of the accident to impatience and recklessness on the part of the motorcyclist who overtook the school bus.
An Agbaluku Arigidi Akoko resident, Alhaji Bakai momodu, noted that Semusemu to Agbaluku axis of the road to Ajowa Akoko has always been recording the high number of motor accidents. He said because the road is smooth, many usually drive recklessly without caution.
Alhaji momodu appealed to the appropriate agencies to organise seminars for road users, particularly, the okada riders in order to minimise road carnages and reduce loss of lives.
Confirming the incident, the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ikare Akoko, Mr Ade Alabi, also attributed the accident to recklessness and lack of patience.
Alabi laid emphasis on the use of head helmets as the casualties suffered head injuries.
He urged motorist to be conscious of high speed because of other road users.
