Two in court for stealing car brain box

Two men have been arraigned before an Ondo Magistrates’ Court for conspiracy and stealing.

The accused persons, Dayo Akinmukomi, 43, and Samuel Akinseye, 20, were arraigned before the court on Monday on six count charge bothering on stealing, unlawfully breaking of glass of a car and unlawfully receiving car brain box.

The second accused, Akinseye, was alleged to have unlawfully broken the back left side glass of one Toyota Corolla saloon car with number plate Lagos KTU 298 CE valued at N10,000, property of Ajayi Elizabeth.

Akinseye was also alleged to have stolen the following items: one Toyota corolla brain box valued N60,000:00 and four Toyota corolla Winner rolling glass valued N40,000:00, total valued N100,000:00 property of Ajayi Elizabeth.

He was further alleged that on the same date between 10pm and 6am at Nasfat street, Ondo in the aforementioned magisterial district  unlawfully broken the driver side glass of Toyota corolla with registration number Lagos FCT 724 DY valued N60,000:00 property of one Olaniyan Ebenezer.

Akinseye was also alleged to have stolen the following items: one Toyota corolla brain box valued N60,000:00 and four Toyota corolla winner rolling glass valued N40,000:00, total valued N100,000:00 property of one Olaniyan Ebenezer.

The first accused, Akinmukomi, was alleged to have on the same date at about 10am, opposite First Bank plc, Yaba in the Ondo aforementioned Magisterial District, unlawfully received one Toyota Corolla brain box valued at N60,000, knowing same to have been stolen by Akinseye.

The police prosecutor, Gbenga Akinsulire said the accused persons committed the offence on January 28,2019 at about 4:30am, at Nasfat street, Ondo in the Ondo Magisterial District.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the six counts charge.

The offences were said to  contravene sections 516, 451, 390(9) and 427 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

Counsel to both accused, Barristers Anthony Olagundoye and O.O Onipe applied for the bail of their clients in most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mrs Odenusi Fadeyi, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

The case was adjourned till February 8, 2019 for trail.
