Two suspected cultists have been reportedly killed in an alleged reprisal attack between two rivalry cult groups in Ilesha town area of Osun State.
Reports said the duo were gunned down by suspected members of a rival cult group at Sabo, Irojo Junction, Ilesha.
According to reports, there were shootings in the town as a result of which two suspected cultists were killed.
An eyewitness said the deceased were suspected to be cult members and were shot dead on what many describe as reprisal attack by other cult group
Sources said their bodies were picked up along the Ilesha/Akure expressway by the police who went to ascertained the situation.
” We all ran for cover when we heard noise from the scene.
“The killing is a continuation of inter-cult rivalry going on Ilesha area in the last three days. Policemen took the bodies of the deceased away in their vehicle possibly to be deposited at mortuary “.
Contacted, the spokesperson of Osun State police Command, SP Yemisi Opalola said more men have been deployed to Ilesha to halt the current spate of killings in the town.
“More men have been deployed to the community but you know police operatives can’t be everywhere.
“Two men were killed again but we are not relenting on our efforts. I can assure you that the perpetrators of this crime won’t escape justice,” Opalola said.
However ,the unwholesome activities of the secret cult clashes in Ilesha are taken worrisome dimension as the state police Commissioner, Mr Kehinde Longe has deployed special squad to arrest the ugly situation.
