Two men docked over alleged housebreaking, theft

An Ondo Magistrates’ Court has arraigned two men, Babatunde Seun, 21, and Ojo Adeyemi, 19, over alleged conspiracy, housebreaking, and theft.
The Ondo State Police Command charged the defendants with four counts relating to housebreaking and stealing.
According to the prosecution, led by Inspector Akao Moremi, the accused and others still at large allegedly committed the offence on March 2, 2025, at about 1:30 p.m. at Maryland Avenue, opposite Arigbabola Street, Ondo.
Seun was alleged to have stolen a Toshiba laptop valued at ₦260,000, two wristwatches worth ₦51,000, a power bank worth ₦20,000, jewellery valued at ₦48,000, and a cash sum of ₦91,000. Other stolen items include a clipper worth ₦8,000, a round-neck T-shirt worth ₦4,000, a Jalamiah gown valued at ₦17,000, a camera worth ₦350,000, coral beads (Akon) valued at ₦600,000, Aso-Oke worth ₦150,000, and an Infinix Note 5 handset valued at ₦165,000— all belonging to one Paul Akinnola.
Adeyemi was accused of unlawfully receiving a clipper valued at ₦8,000 and a camera worth ₦350,000.
The prosecution said the alleged offences contravened Sections 516, 412, 383(2)(a), and 427 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.
Moremi informed the court that four witnesses would be called and requested time to review the case file.
Magistrate Ikujuyi granted the defendants bail in the sum of ₦2 million each, with a responsible surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned till May 5, 2025, for further hearing.
