Two remanded for stealing goat

For stealing a she goat belonging to a community, two suspects have been remanded in prison by an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court.

The accused persons simply identified as Ayebiwo Oyekanmi, an Okada rider and Tosin Omotewe, a barber, were alleged of stealing the goat belonging to Ode-Aye community in Okitipupa Local Government area of Ondo state.

Oyekanmi and Omotewe were alleged of stealing the she goat valued at N25,000, with their accomplices on the run.

The charge sheet read in part, “That you, Ayebiwo Oyekanmi cyclist, Tosin Omotewe a barber and others at large, did steal a she goat valued at N25,000 only, property of Ode Aye Community and there by committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37,Vol,1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The police prosecutor, Sgt. Olaniyan Adekunle said the incident occurred on May 15, 2019 at about 7:30 pm.

The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the two counts charge.

The presiding magistrate, D. O Ogunfuyi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till of June 19, 2019.

He, however, ordered that the accused be remanded in Okitipupa prison until their bail conditions were perfected.
