By Tola Gbadamosi
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abayomi Peter Oladipo, today visited Uba/Eshimeri Akoko and Aduloju camp for an on-the-spot assessment following the clash between the people of Uba community and the Fulanis living in Ondo State.
The Hope Metro gathered that a case of murder was reported at Oka Division, stating that a young man, who was a farmer, went to the farm and did not return. A search party was sent to trace his movements, but his corpse was discovered along the farm road path, with his intestines exposed, and he was suspected to have bled to death from a stab wound.
On the same day, the Sarki of Ikare Akoko also reported that youths, suspected to be Uba Akoko indigenes, attacked Fulani settlements at Aduloju camp.
On this basis, the command swiftly deployed personnel from the divisions to intervene and prevent an imminent crisis in the area.
During his visit, the CP met with the people of Uba community, sympathised with them over the death of their beloved son, and promised to bring the perpetrators to justice. He also met with the Fulanis in Aduloju camp, assuring them that the arsonists would not be spared.
CP Abayomi appealed to both parties to maintain peace while the command carries out a detailed investigation and directed the Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case.
He also promised to meet with the Governor and relay all that was discussed in the meeting.
The command is using this medium to encourage the people of the state to always report crimes to the nearest police station or other security agencies within reach.
