UEFA Conference League: West Ham claim title, first trophy in 43 years

West Ham United of England have won the 2020-2023 UEFA Conference League, beating Fiorentina of Italy by 2-1.
Jarrod Bowen late strike was enough to seal the second edition of the tournament for The Hammers.
The first half of the match witnessed several attempts to put the ball in the back of the net by the two sides.
Fiorentina had most of the possession but West Ham’s solid defence was able to absorb their pressure.
Said BenRahma was shown a yellow card for simulating to get a free kick at the edge of Fiorentina’s box.
Fiorentina’s Biraghi suffered a head cut after he was hit by an object thrown from the spectators in the 31st minute
West Ham was awarded a free kick from 26 yards after Jarrod Bowen was brought down but failed to convert it to goal.
Fiorentina were denied a goal after a close header from Luka Jovi rolled into the net few seconds before end of first half for offside and the first half ended goaless.
First half possession ended 64% -36% in favour of Fiorentina.
The second half started with both teams at loggerheads before luck went the way of West Ham in the 56th minute after Biraghi handed the ball in the box.
Said Benrahma converted the penalty and sent Fiorentina’s keeper the wrong way with a powerful shot.
Kurt Zouma was subbed off in the 60th minute for injury.

Fiorentina did not wait too long before equalising from a technical strike from Bonaventura
Jarrod Bowen was the hero of as he got a late strike to seal victory fir West Ham in the 89th minute after a through ball from Lucas Paqueta.
This is the first trophy for West Ham after a 1-0 victory over Arsenal in the 1979/1980 FA Cup final.
